Constance (Connie) R. Swan, 88, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, succumbed to an extended illness on Friday, April 30, 2021.
Born January 2, 1933, in Dugger, IN, Connie and her husband, John R. Swan, recently of Indianapolis, celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2020. They lived the majority of their lives in Anderson, IN where John had a 37 year career at Delco-Remy. Their retirement took them on travels all across the country, settling at times in both Ft. Myers and Lake Placid, Florida.
Incredibly modest by nature, Connie perfected the art of homemaking and taking care of a family. She was amazing at handling difficult situations and mastered the art of multi-tasking long before it had a name. A closet artist and designer, she loved music, especially classical piano, crocheting, the occasional chocolate and she never met a crossword puzzle that she couldn’t handle.
But of all Connie’s gifts, her kindness to others was beyond compare. Her soft smile and calming influence allowed her to be a wonderful listener with the ability to dole out exquisite wisdom to those smart enough to listen. She was often a mothering influence to others outside her family and made sure that everyone was comfortable while visiting the Swan household.
Along with her husband, Connie leaves behind a loving family legacy. Three children: Bruce Swan of Pendleton, IN; Lori Swan (Julie Bakehorn) of Indianapolis; John E. Swan (Karen) of Indianapolis. Four grandchildren: Joe Swan (Emily) of Indianapolis; Andrea Gavin (Conor) of Greenwood; Stephani Emerick (Justin) of Fishers; Payton Swan of Indianapolis. Six great-grandchildren: Elliot Swan, Charlie Swan, Maggie Swan, Aidan Gavin, Jocelyn Emerick and Liam Gavin. A brother: James Anderson of Pendleton,IN.
